A Christian carpenter has lost an eye in Kaduna state.
His offence: He decided to eat while Muslims were fasting in Kakuri area of Kaduna.
The victim identified as 41-year-old Francis Emmanuel got into trouble when some Muslim youths spotted him eating lunch around 2:30pm in Sokoto area of Kakuri yesterday.
He was beaten to stupor and stabbed with dangerous weapon.
He suffered deep cut to his head and other part of his body.
Hear what the victim told journalists yesterday:
“I went to buy wood to do some work. When I came back, I bought food to eat. As I was eating, about six Hausa boys came and asked me whether I was a Muslim or a Christian. I did not answer them. They asked me why I was not fasting. I told them that I am not a Muslim.
“Before I know it, one of them slapped me. As I stood up, the rest came and surrounded me and started attacking me with knives. I didn’t know them. Nobody could come to my aid because of the type of dangerous knives they were carrying.
“They used cutlasses, scissors and knives. I became unconscious; I don’t even know who brought me to the hospital.”
This needless attack happened barely a week after a Deeper Life Pastor’s wife Mr Bridget Agbahime was stabbed to death for not allowing a Muslim man to pray in front of her shop.
She was accused of speaking blasphemous things against Allah before she was hacked to death in front of her husband.
The carpenter who escaped death by a whisker yesterday is currently receiving treatment at St Gerard Catholic Hospital in Kaduna with his mother by his bed side.
